EU Policy Assistant for Biodiversity Finance

We are currently looking for an EU Policy Assistant for Biodiversity Finance (all genders) full-time.

Place of work is Brussels, with regular trips to the head office in Radolfzell (Germany) and when needed to the project areas of EuroNatur in various European countries.

Your role and tasks:

In collaboration with the EU Policy Officer for Biodiversity Finance, the Policy Assistant will perform the following tasks:

  • Support with the implementation of two biodiversity finance related projects and control of all activities for the timely, economical and requirement-compliant realisation of the projects including financial and narrative reporting
  • Collaboration with project partners – coordination, progress monitoring
  • Collaboration on internal and external communications - elaboration of language elements, communications planning, public relations
  • Operational support – partners visit, organization of events
  • Support with external policy engagements – briefings, content development, minutes taking
  •  Support with a structured approach to the team’s policy work
    • Strategic planning, support with the elaboration of workplans
    • Stakeholder mapping, identification of hooks and advocacy opportunities

Application requirements:

All profiles are different, and we do not expect applicants to tick all of the boxes listed below. We therefore encourage candidates to apply should they not be able to cover 100% of the qualifications, and we also welcome additional skills.

  • Completed university degree, preferably in European studies or political sciences
  • Knowledge of basic principles of environmental protection and conservation are an asset
  • 1 year of professional experience in EU (environmental) policy and project management (including traineeships)
  • Highly organized, proactive and with a structured approach to work, adherence to deadlines
  • Knowledge of recent news/developments on main biodiversity and biodiversity finance files: MFF files, Nature Restoration Regulation, Birds and Habitats Directives, Recovery and Resilience Facility
  • Knowledge of EU decision-making processes and main relevant actors
  • Fluent in English, other European languages (particularly German) are an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a team - Empathy and cooperation
  • Transparency and open communication
  • Analytical skills and ability to synthesise

What we offer:

  • 12-month fixed term contract (with possibility of extension depending on availability of funding)
  • According to your qualifications and experience you may expect an annual gross salary amounting between 46,000 and 54,000 EUR (including a 13th and 14th month payment (as foreseen by CP 337)
